International roundtable «Lviv-Warsaw School: Ukrainian-Polish Intersections in the Philosophical Field»

The International Roundtable «Lviv-Warsaw School: Ukrainian-Polish Intersections in the Philosophical Field» will be held online on 11 February 2025. It will mark the 140th anniversary of the birth of Stepan Baley and the 130th anniversary of the birth of Oleksandr Kulchytskyi.

The students of Kazimierz Twardowski, the founder of the Lviv-Warsaw School, were not only Poles and Jews, but also Ukrainians. Among them there were the famous scholars Stepan Baley and Oleksandr Kulchytskyi. The roundtable is dedicated to the analysis of Ukrainian-Polish cooperation in interwar Lviv in the field of humanities in general and philosophy in particular.

The organisers propose to discuss the following issues of Ukrainian-Polish cooperation in interwar Lviv:

  • methodology and organisation of research in philosophy and humanities;
  • pedagogical education and science in interwar Lviv;
  • pedagogical and heuristic advantages of direct teacher-student relations;
  • the possibility of a dialogue of cultures on the example of the Lviv-Warsaw School;
  • the works of Ukrainian students of Kazimierz Twardowski and the methodological and analytical heritage of the Lviv-Warsaw School.
