The Department of Tourism, Viacheslav Chornovil Institute of Sustainable Development, Lviv Polytechnic National University, for the second time invites senior high school students of secondary schools, gymnasiums, lyceums and colleges to participate in the Spring School «Introduction to Wikipedia: how to start writing about your native land».
Classes will take place in the Student Library of Lviv Polytechnic (3 Mytropolyta Andreia Street) on May 27–31, 2024.
The school program includes classes in the following blocks:
- Acquaintance with Wikipedia;
- Local history topics in Wikipedia and sister projects (Wikivoyage and Wikiquote);
- The essence and peculiarities of trips to the native land for articles in Wikivoyage;
- Rules and peculiarities of creating and/or editing articles about the native region in Wikipedia and its sister projects;
- Completing competitive tasks in Wikipedia and its sister projects and determining the winner;
- Rules and peculiarities of working with WikiRepository.
The classes will be conducted by the faculty of the Department of Tourism and experienced wikipedians from the public organization «Wikimedia Ukraine», combining lectures with the participants’ performance of practical tasks. The school program also includes an online lecture by a wikipedian from Poland.
Upon completion of the Spring School «Introduction to Wikipedia: How to start writing about your native land», students will receive certificates.
