The State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety at the initiative of the Argonne National Laboratory (USA) and with the organizational and financial support of the Department of Energy and the US Department of State completed the first phase of specialized training for students at Ukrainian technical universities within the framework of the US-Ukraine short-term and long-term cooperation in nuclear energy.
Anastasiia Oleksenko and Vladyslav Zavarin, students of the Department of Heat Engineering and Thermal and Nuclear Power Plants, the Institute of Power Engineering and Control Systems, Lviv Polytechnic National University, participated in this internship. They took an active part in all trainings and lectures and chose topics in the field of small modular reactors (SMR) for further research and final master’s theses.
Argonne National Laboratory is satisfied with the level of professional training of students and their level of technical English. This knowledge will allow students to be at the forefront of development and implementation of new nuclear energy technologies in Ukraine.
At the same time, the project leaders praised the work of the academic community of the University in training future experts for the nuclear sector of Ukraine.
