Despite the outbreak of the epidemic and military threats from an aggressive neighbour, life goes on in all its manifestations: children are born, all services work, not even the tumultuous entertainment sector of the country’s economy subsides.
Lviv Polytechnic National University on the basis of the Department of Intelligent Mechatronics and Robotics, the Institute of Computer Technologies, Automation and Metrology for the week (from January 24 to 28 2022) runs offline classes within elective course «ABB Robots» by Mr. David Löffler, guest lecturer from Rauschert Heinersdorf-Pressig Gmb, Pressig, Germany.
This course (30 hours) was conducted on a voluntary basis with the financial support of Rauschert (President of the company – Dr. Richard Metzler, Chief Technologist – MBA Michael Miller) as part of the program «Guest Lecturer» at Lviv Polytechnic. Postgraduate students and faculty of the Department of Intelligent Mechatronics and Robotics, ICTA, took part in this course. The presentation (with the active participation of students) was accompanied by practical exercises using the industrial robot ABB, previously received from the company. Students mastered the topics of effective use of industrial robot in the educational process and during research, namely:
- Basics of safe work with the IRB1200 robot
- Basics of working with the RobotStudio software environment
- Tool and object coordinate systems when working with the IRB1200 robot
- Basics of RAPID programming
- Methods to increase the productivity of basic manipulation operations using the IRB1200 robot
- Analysis of the state of operation of the IRB1200 robot in case of change of its input and output signals
It is worth noting the special activity of associate professors Roman Velhan, Serhii Kliuchkovskyi, Rostyslav Deineka, professors Taras Boiko and Myroslav Tykhan, master’s student Maksym Semenchenko for the documentary support from the Center for International Education of Lviv Polytechnic (Professor Nataliia Hots) and assistance of Nataliya Chukhray, Vice-Rector for Education and International Relations.
The acquired knowledge of the latest developments in robotics in ABB and practical skills acquired by working with the robot IRB1200 of this company will contribute to further improvement of the educational and scientific work of the Department of Intelligent Mechatronics and Robotics, ICTA, the laboratory base of the Department, the theoretical base of relevant subjects with effective hardware and software as well as development of cooperation between Lviv Polytechnic National University and Rauschert.
