During March 27–31, 2023, Ruslana Huminilovych, Associate Professor at the Department of Physical, Analytical and General Chemistry, the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies, Lviv Polytechnic National University, participated in the international credit mobility program Erasmus+ to Kingston University London. It is a British public research university located in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, in southwest London, England (Kingston University London).
Kingston University offers high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate courses in chemistry and pharmacy, and the Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry. Each study program is designed taking into account the development of career opportunities, so that the student can thoroughly explore not only the specialty he has chosen, but also the requirements of the labour market and can acquire the relevant work skills necessary for today's work environment.
Academic mobility programme included teaching activities and participation in scientific and methodological activities of the Faculty of Health, Science, Social Care and Education at the Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences. During the mobility period, the representative of Lviv Polytechnic gave lectures, conducted laboratory work and did a workshop for the fourth-fifth year students in the following areas:
- CH4002 Foundation Inorganic and Environmental Chemistry
- CH4003 Introduction to Spectroscopic & Experimental Techniques;
- CH4005 Foundation Chemistry for Pharmaceutical Science;
- CH5001 Inorganic Chemistry;
- CH5004 Analytical and Experimental Chemistry";
- CH5006 Analytical Science.
Also within the mobility programme, Ruslana Huminilovych took part in a scientific seminar of the Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, where she presented the results of her scientific research. During the event, there were discussions and an exchange of opinions regarding ways of developing future scientific cooperation (conducting joint research, writing joint articles, preparing applications for international projects), as well as the issue of the peculiarities of the educational programs of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies, Lviv Polytechnic National University, and the Faculty of Health, Science, Social Care and Education, Kingston University London.
Richard Singer, Stephen Wren, Joseph Bear, Roman Kresinski, Sianne Schwikkard, Rosa Busquets, Ayomi Perera, Dominikus Heift and Ravtej Singh Thatti took an active part in the discussion.
The representative of Lviv Polytechnic also had the opportunity to get acquainted with the infrastructure of Kingston University, in particular with modern laboratory equipment and devices (chromatographs, spectrographs, etc).
The results of participation in the academic mobility program are cooperation development with Kingston University, the development of scientific cooperation, the exchange of approaches to active (student-oriented) learning in the classroom, and thus - the promotion of the Europeanization of higher education in Ukraine.
