On November 1, 2018, on the eve of the XI Ukrainian World Congress, the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations of Lviv Polytechnic National University continued to present the multimedia exhibition Ukrainian World Congress: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow in Kamianets-Podilskyi Ivan Ohienko National University (KPNU).
The presentation was held with the support of Ukrainian World Congress and the assistance of the administration of Kamianets-Podilskyi Ivan Ohienko National University.
Before the official opening, the IECDR delegation – Director Iryna Kliuchkovska, Deputy Directors Andrii Yatsiv and Oksana Piatkovska, Research Officer Yurii Marusyk – was welcomed by Rector of KPNU, Professor Serhii Kopylov, who emphasized the importance of Ukrainian diaspora in the formation and development of Ukraine. According to him, students know little about world Ukrainians, and he expressed his gratitude to IECDR for an interesting educational idea and hope for further cooperation.
The opening of the multimedia exhibition took place in the lobby of the main building of KPNU with the participation of numerous university lecturers and students. Ivan Konet, Vice-Rector on the Scientific Work of KPNU, in his welcoming speech stressed the importance of the presentation in the year of celebration of the 100th anniversary of University, the first rector of which was Ivan Ohienko, and handed over the books published on this occasion for the IECDR library.
The IECDR team presented the idea of creating the exhibition, its structure, the cooperation of the Institute with the world Ukrainian community, a series of events that were jointly held with UWC during 2017 and were dedicated to the celebration of its 50th anniversary as well as spoke about activities of the Institute.
The video about UWC, created by the students of the Department of Journalism of Lviv Polytechnic, was of particular interest.
Andii Yatsiv urged the KPNU students to join disseminating information about history and activities of Ukrainian World Congress – the most authoritative Ukrainian organization in the world, as well as to participate in educational projects aimed at cooperation with world Ukrainians.
Iryna Kliuchkovska noted that educational project provides an opportunity not only to get familiarized with the activities of UWC as the most authoritative Ukrainian community organization abroad, but to encourage and involve students in research studies of Ukrainian diaspora, which unfortunately remains terra incognita for most young people.
