On September 27, 2018, the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations of Lviv Polytechnic National University together with Charity Organization Zaporuka Charity Foundation and Patronato ACLI (Italy) held the International Symposium Family Reunification: Ukrainian Migrants in Italy.
The scientists and lecturers of such institutions as Lviv Polytechnic National University, the state institution M.I. Dolishniy Institute of Regional Research of the NAS of Ukraine, Ivan Franko Lviv National University, Ethnography Institute of the NAS of Ukraine, the National Institute for Strategic Studies, as well as the representatives of the Lviv, Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk regional state administrations, Lviv City Council, the International Organization for Migration in Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in Lviv and the Embassy of the Republic of Italy in Ukraine attended the Symposium.
The Symposium was conducted in a roundtable discussion format. Participants of the scientific meeting presented a detailed analysis of current migration trends, in particular the dynamics and specifics of Ukrainian migration to Italy, outlined the current Italian immigration policy for Ukrainian migrants, in particular described the latest changes in Italian legislation and the Institutional Restructuring, as well as introduced practices in the field of protection of the rights of migrant workers in Italy.
A joint Ukrainian-Italian project FORM@, aimed at promoting the protection of the rights of the Ukrainian migrant workers in Italy, and re-emigrants who return from Italy and claim social security, was presented at the Symposium.
