In May a solar power plant appeared on the roof of the II building of Khmelnytskyi Polytechnic College of Lviv Polytechnic National University. Khmelnytskyi Polytechnicians were the first and so far the only ones in Ukraine to assemble and set up the complex technical equipment on their own.
60 solar panels with a total capacity of 22.5 kWh, which will generate about 3,000 kWh of electricity per month, have been installed on the roof of the College. In a short time, there has been equipped a laboratory, where three inverters convert the direct current produced by solar cells into alternating current with a voltage of 220 V.
College solar power plant provides not only energy savings, but it is also a powerful educational and innovative tool that is sure to improve the educational process. The plant will become a platform for the internship of students majoring in Computer Engineering (electrical and radio measuring) and Applied Mechanics (measuring and adjusting). Most importantly, the use of solar power plant will make significant changes in improving the educational process and will be used for teaching a number of subjects.
