Last week, the students of the three institutes – IEM, IBEE and IEMT of Lviv Polytechnic had an opportunity to talk with the Minister of Infrastructure, the graduate of our university Volodymyr Omelian.
Oleh Syniutka, Head of Lviv Regional State Administration, started the meeting speaking with students about the reasons of their desire to move abroad.
Volodymyr Omelian told the youth about what have been achieved since 2015 and what are the plans for the future.
– First of all I want to honor all the military volunteers, because today, March 14, is a Day of Ukrainian military volunteer. I think Lviv Polytechnic also celebrates this day, as the legendary military leader of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) Roman Shukhevych studied Road Engineering here. And then, having a brilliant career, business, he left everything and went to fight for Ukraine, said the minister at the beginning of the meeting.
First of all, to the opinion of Volodymyr Omelian, every Ukrainian must do everything to make our country independent and successful European country. It’s time to stop being a constant source for outsourcing and emigration.
Volodymyr Omelian also emphasized that in our country the road industry can be one of the leading. But to properly build our roads, we need to properly train our people. At present, there is a shortage of skilled workers and there are almost no scientists in this field. So students should focus on the prospects. In the end, Polytechnic can train great specialists.
At the meeting, all those who wished had an opportunity to ask the minister whatever they were interested in: why the roads are so badly repaired, how the Ukrainian Railways will develop, what is needed for our public transport to be of good quality, etc.
In conclusion, Volodymyr Omelian called on young people to study, because even if they do not see themselves in the chosen profession, continuous education is one of the main criteria in the modern world.
