Under the aegis of the European Union Advisory Mission in Ukraine, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Regional Center for Free Secondary Legal Aid Provision in the Lviv Region and Lviv Polytechnic National University.
The purpose of the Memorandum is:
- long-term cooperation and interaction of the Parties, aimed at promoting the development of a sovereign, independent, democratic rule-of-law country and civil society;
- implementation of the social program of the Government of Ukraine, which guarantees people effective protection of their rights and ensuring citizens equal access to justice, as well as receiving free legal aid and raising the prestige of the legal profession in Ukraine;
- promotion of the ideas of human rights and legal education.
Among the main areas of cooperation are creating conditions for the participation of representatives of the free legal aid system and scientific and pedagogical workers, postgraduates, students of Lviv Polytechnic National University in providing citizens with the necessary assistance, in particular:
- provision of legal information;
- providing consultations and legal clarifications;
- assistance in providing access to secondary legal assistance and mediation;
- providing access to electronic services of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine;
- participation in the implementation of measures to protect the rights and legitimate interests of citizens.
In the Institute of Jurisprudence and Psychology at Lviv Polytechnic University there was also signed a Cooperation Agreement between the Regional Center for Legal Aid and University.
