On July 25, the guest of the discussion club at the Summer School of Ukrainian Studies «Step to Ukraine» was Nazar Savko, singer, musician, composer, finalist of the show The Voice of the Country, and co-author of the popular children’s YouTube channel «With Love to Children». At the invitation of the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations of Lviv Polytechnic National University, Nazar Savko met with students from Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Spain, Poland, Russia and Romania. The event was moderated by Oksana Piatkovska, Deputy Director of IECDR.
There were many themes for discussion and a lot of food for thought after the meeting with Nazar Savko. The guest’s words became topics for discussion with the students of the School in groups: «If we could fight with songs, Ukraine would win the war», «Talent is not the main thing in life. The main thing is your desire to learn. Due to education, you can achieve more than by just having a talent», «I could sing in other languages, I respect other languages and other nationalities, but if I live in Ukraine, a country that has such a rich culture, it is a sin not to cherish it», «In the youth, the muse is a girl», «To write many works and none of them touches the listener is worse than being the author of one song».
Nazar Savko told about his creative family, his wife, who is his support in life and to whom he dedicates songs, about his best trip – to Brazil (by the way, although the singer jokingly calls himself a non-polyglot and understands Portuguese), acting experience, behind the scenes of the show The Voice of the Country, about his work on the channel «With Love to Children», his professional activity – management of a children’s music studio, how his family fell ill with Covid-19, and new projects that are born during quarantine period. The singer invited the students to his upcoming concert, which will take place soon, and the students offered to come to their countries with performances.
After the discussion club, the students of the School went to watch the YouTube channel co-authored by Nazar Savko and to listen to his hits.
