On October 7, 2024, as part of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet project, the Department of "European Studies for Technical Students of Lviv Polytechnic National University" (EUSTS) organized a visit for university students to small solar power plants in the Zolochiv district.
During the visit, the students observed various types of solar power plants, including ground-mounted, rooftop solar power stations, and plants operating on the "east-west" principle. Particular attention was drawn to the small rooftop solar power plants that supply energy to mattress production, significantly reducing energy costs and lowering the production process’s overall cost. This serves as an excellent example of how businesses can increase energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness by using renewable energy sources.
The students also visited a ground-mounted solar power plant built by the company Leoenergy for the Terra-pack enterprise, which specializes in producing packaging materials. The company owners demonstrated how clean energy solutions are integrated into their production processes and shared their experience of how using renewable energy reduces reliance on traditional resources and enhances business resilience.
Enterprise representatives emphasized the importance of implementing innovative solutions that not only reduce environmental impact but also allow significant energy savings and improve production profitability.
This visit was significant not only for gaining technical knowledge but also for students’s instilling an understanding of global challenges related to climate change and the responsibility businesses have to society. Additionally, this event highlighted the importance of harmoniously combining technological innovation with social responsibility to create a more sustainable and equitable future. A total of 30 students and project participants took part in the "European Public Tours". The project team expresses its gratitude to the event organizers for an insightful tour!
