Researchers from the Department of Organic Chemistry at Lviv Polytechnic National University have improved their work – hydrogel bandages, which were presented in 2015. Now they have designed a cloth that can provide first aid treatment for burns that affect a large area of skin.
The cloth is 80% composed of water, the rest is a synthetic reinforced polymer. It has a cooling effect and maintains the water balance of the wound.
The cloth is already being prepared for mass production. However, for the wound-modeling bandages, the manufacturer has not been found yet. This development is also a novelty of the Department. Hydrogels are squeezed from a dual chamber syringe on deep injuries.
