As part of the funding program Ukraine digital: Studienerfolg in Krisenzeiten sichern of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Osnabrück University awarded scholarships to the Lviv Polytechnic students who, due to the war in Ukraine, needed financial support to continue their studies. The funds come from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
40 successful students of the Department of Information Systems and Networks, who suffered from the war, proved the importance of this scholarship and received it. By the end of the calendar year, all of them will receive 200 euros per month (those who live in Ukraine) or 861 euros (those who ended up in Germany due to hostilities). Among the scholarship holders, five are in Germany, at the invitation of the Wismar University of Applied Sciences, Technology, Business and Design, which often shows high results in national and regional rankings. There, our students not only study remotely at Lviv Polytechnic, but also choose elective courses (in particular, Mathematics and German) at the local university. They live in a dormitory, and have a separate classroom for distance learning. They also volunteer at the German Red Cross, helping to sort and issue humanitarian aid to Ukrainian migrants. Students actively attend all rallies and demonstrations in support of Ukraine that take place in Wismar and other German cities.
Together with the students, four academics of the Department of Information Systems and Networks also received the scholarships.
