Last week Lviv Polytechnic students, interested in internships at various Polish companies, had an opportunity to get acquainted with the terms of participation in the Leopolis for Future program, which has already been operating for more than five years.
Under this program, students can do a 1-month internship at the expense of Polish firms. Everything started with cooperation with Lviv Polytechnic. Currently, this program involves students from I. Franko National University of Lviv and Lviv National Academy of Arts.
– Companies that make contributions to the Leopolis for Future program, take students for internship, providing them with a transfer, residence and giving so-called pocket money, which sometimes is equivalent to a third or a half of the salary in Poland. Thus students have the opportunity to do their internships and see how the Polish companies work, said Nataliia Rozhankivska, a leading specialist at the Center for International Education. – For example, economics students can choose between several banks which have their branch offices around the world. If students did well, they can receive a job offer.
Among the firms which are interested in our students training there is a large hotel network Orbis, which deals with tourism. Students can go through all levels of hotel management: from reception to higher levels. Last year the law firm and this year the aviation giant Boeing joined the project. Also there are firms interested in students of engineering specialties, in particular in the field of programming. The city council of Gdansk also joined the program, which is a good opportunity for managers and architects.
Now, besides students, postgraduate students can join the program as well. Mostly, the internship lasts a month – in July. But some firms continue it for another month.
Requirements include knowledge of Polish and English. The emphasis is, of course, on Polish.
