On May 22, Lviv Polytechnic National University held an opening ceremony of the International Scientific and Technical Conference on Advanced Trends in Radioelectronics and Telecommunications on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the Department of Theoretical Radio Engineering and Radio Measurement.
The conference began with a speech by the Rector of the Lviv Polytechnic National University Yuriy Bobalo. In his speech, he emphasized the fact that, despite the path of 85 years, this date is an occasion not only to look at the glorious past of this Department and the people who have been creating history together with it, but also to talk and think about the future ahead. Also, on the occasion of the Department’s anniversary, the Rector awarded diplomas to:
- Professor Ivan Horbatyi, Head of the Department of Theoretical Radio Engineering and Radio Measurement, the Institute of Telecommunications, Radioelectronics and Electronic Engineering, Lviv Polytechnic National University;
- Professor Andrii Bondariev, Doctor of Technical Sciences the Department of Theoretical Radio Engineering and Radio Measurement;
- Professor Bohdan Volochii, Doctor of Technical Sciences, the Department of Theoretical Radio Engineering and Radio Measurement;
- Professor Myroslav Kiselychnyk, Candidate of Technical Sciences, the Department of Theoretical Radio Engineering and Radio Measurement;
- Professor Leonid Ozirkovskyi, Doctor of Technical Sciences, the Department of Theoretical Radio Engineering and Radio Measurement.
- Professor Ivan Demydov, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research, Lviv Polytechnic National University, and Professor Leonid Ozirkovskyi, the Department of Theoretical Radio Engineering and Radio Measurement, the Institute of Telecommunications, Radio Electronics and Electronic Engineering, delivered their welcome speeches.
In his report, Ivan Horbaty talked about the formation and history of the Department of Radio Engineering at Lviv Polytechnic from the moment of its foundation in October 1939 to the present day, mentioning the challenges which the Department was facing during all this time.
In his presentation about the University’s chronicles, Andrii Bondariev told in detail how practical research has been developing at the Department over its 85-year history.
Andrii Kuzyk, a senior lecturer at the Department of Radioelectronic Devices and Systems, Lviv Polytechnic National University, spoke more about the history of radio technologies in Ukraine and the world, talking how radio technology developed in different periods of the 20th century, as well as how it evolved in Ukraine during these periods.
