On the eve of October 14 – the Intercession of the Theotokos and the Day of the Defender of Ukraine – the rector of Lviv Polytechnic National University, Professor Yurii Bobalo, met with the workers, lecturers and students who participated in the ATO in the East of Ukraine.
In a short, but heart touching speech, the rector expressed his sincere gratitude to these indifferent people who, with weapon in their hands, defended Ukraine’s independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty.
– Words cannot express all our feelings to these true patriots of our Homeland, – he stated. – For us, peaceful people, it’s hard to imagine that there is a bloody war in the eastern Ukraine, where hundreds and thousands of our compatriots have died. Heroes do not die!.
Rector Yurii Bobalo presented to a group of workers and students of Lviv Polytechnic – the participants of the Antiterrorist and United Forces Operations – certificates of appreciation and memorable gifts. Among the awardees there were the cook of the University canteen Viacheslav Melnyk, who for a year has been fighting in the East, Associate Professors Petro Haraniuk and Ruslan Kravets, Senior Lecturers Andrii Muzychuk and Roman Kuzmyn, engineers Andrii Shpachuk and Yevhen Churbanov, students Yurii Danilchenko, Vitalii Petriv, Roman Marysenko, Rostyslav Dunets, Viacheslav Bilous, Oleh Martiuk, Volodymyr Shvachko and others. The rector warmly congratulated the only girl among former military officers – a student of the Institute of Jurisprudence and Psychology Roksolana Lupan.
Also on the eve of the feast, an exhibition Undefeated, dedicated to the Day of the Defender of Ukraine and organized by the activists of the Prosvita Society, was opened in front of the University main building.
