Lviv Polytechnic University hosted a delegation of one of the largest Chinese telecommunication companies – Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.
The event took place on November 13. Peng Jun, President of Kyiv and Minsk Huawei Research Centers, and Mykola Ushakov, Senior Cooperation Manager of Kyiv Research Center arrived at University. It were the guests who initiated the meeting. The purpose of the visit was to present the results of HIRP Open 2018 and the preparation for HIRP Open 2019 (the Huawei Innovation Research Program) which provides financial opportunities for leading universities and research institutes conducting innovative developments in the field of Communications Technology, Computer Science, Engineering and related specialities, as well as discussing the possibilities of introducing new research activities of the company in Ukraine.
On this occasion, a delegation met with representatives of ICTA, ICSIT, and ITRE in our university. The main objective was to present scientific researches of Polytechnicians in areas of interest to the Chinese company, including Network and Cyber Security, Thermal Physics, Thermodynamics, Antennas and Microwave Technologies, etc. The guests also spoke about the developments and scientific issues that Huawei Research Centers are currently working on and what the company needs to address these issues.
– Two years ago, Huawei representatives already came to Lviv Polytechnic – they talked about plans to open a research center in Ukraine. Now, when such center exists, they are looking for partners, they want to establish cooperation, said the Vice-Rector Nataliia Chukhrai.
