According to Professor Oresta Remeshylo-Rybchynska, the initiator and speaker of the seminar, the event was organised to discuss the scientific and educational tasks required for bachelor’s and master’s projects. She emphasised their relevance, as much of Ukraine’s cultural heritage was destroyed by the war, and most urban planning and architecture monuments in western Ukraine are underutilised.

For his part, the IARD Director Professor Yurii Dyba recalled the problems of designing and using interiors in historic buildings, and also focused on the fact that the seminar took place during an important period of the division of the DAF Department. The seminar participants received greetings from Jose Navarro, the UNESCO representative in Lviv.

Iryna Dyda, Deputy Head of the DAF Department, made a presentation on the topic «The Problem of Working with Historic Interiors in the Process of Training Environmental Designers». Professor Andrii Pavliv and Associate Professor Vasyl Petryk discussed the importance of interdisciplinary approaches to the process of designing and developing interior design projects for historic buildings. Yurii Yatsenko, a public figure invited to the seminar, gave a presentation on «The Residence of the Fredriv-Sheptytskyi Family in the Village of Vyshnia. The current state of the ensemble of buildings and prospects for use».

Associate Professor Tetiana Klymeniuk and Senior Lecturer Mariia Brych took part in the discussion of the report. Vladyslav Havretskyi, a postgraduate student of the DAF Department, presented his vision of the problems raised at the seminar.

35 employees of the Department, who had the opportunity to join the seminar through the Teams program, attended the seminar. The event featured an exhibition of 14 tablets with the historic interiors and the monuments of the Pidhirtsi castle and park.

The seminar was summarised by Professor Oresta Remeshylo-Rybchynska. After discussing the results of the seminar at the meeting of the DAF Department on 24 January 2025, the Head of the Department, Professor Svitlana Linda, proposed to create, together with the DAC Department, an elective block of disciplines at the DAF Department on the topic «Restoration and reproduction of historical interiors» within the new educational and professional program, the major B-2 «Design», specialization «Interior and Spatial Design».
