Recently, the Department of Political Science and International Relations, the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences, the Centre for International Education, Lviv Polytechnic National University, and the College of Europe in Natolin, Republic of Poland, held an interactive event «Internationalisation of Higher Education: Current Trends and Prospects for Development». The participants discussed the issues of internationalisation of higher education in modern conditions, shared their experience, and identified prospects for internationalisation for the development of higher education.

Halyna Lutsyshyn, Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, stressed that since 2000, the internationalisation of higher education has become a key issue on the European agenda, and in the early years it was mainly seen as a process of Europeanisation with a decisive emphasis on the development of student mobility. It is important to develop new international educational networks and associations, which are effective platforms for the exchange of experience. Most higher education institutions have internationalisation strategies, and Lviv Polytechnic National University also has an Internationalisation Strategy for Lviv Polytechnic until 2025. The mission is to create an environment of free exchange of knowledge through the mobility of students, postgraduates and employees for the qualitative growth of individuals and sustainable development of Lviv Polytechnic.

Jakub Kubica, a representative of the College of Europe in Natolin, Poland, also shared his experience and spoke about international cooperation programs, the university’s integration into the international educational and scientific space, the education system, and practical training. The guest emphasised the importance of postgraduate education and said that two graduates of Lviv Polytechnic’s Department of Political Science and International Relations had successfully completed their studies at the College of Europe in Natalin. In particular, Vasyl Romanyk is currently working in the Education Department of the European Commission.

Jakub Kubica emphasised the importance of developing postgraduate education, improving professional competencies and invited to participate in international mobility, as international cooperation is one of the main indicators of quality in education and science and, at the same time, one of the main tools for its improvement.
