Artificial intelligence shifted from science fiction books and films to the everyday life of each of us long time ago. Every day, we communicate with chatbots which help us instead of human operators, we get recommendations when shopping online, receive personalised content and ads on social media, we use smart things or live in smart homes, make medical diagnoses or predict currency rates using AI.
But the wider the use of AI becomes, the more responsible and complex are the tasks entrusted to machines, and the more humanity begins to think about possible challenges.
- How safe is it to delegate critical tasks to AI?
- Is the use of AI ethical for all tasks?
- Will AI-based decision-making cause discrimination?
- Should the state control the development and use of AI at the legislative level?
All these issues will be discussed at the Summer School «EU and AI: A European Approach to Artificial Intelligence», organized by the Department of Automated Control Systems, the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technology, Lviv Polytechnic National University, as part of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module «Trustworthy artificial intelligence: the European approach» (№ 101085626 – TrustAI – ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH).
- Modern AI technologies: opportunities, prospects and limitations.
- European approach to machine learning.
- Reliable artificial intelligence: a risk-based approach.
- New regulatory framework for AI: ethical AI.
In the practical sections, invited experts will talk about the best practices and interesting tasks while using Big Data and AI.
The event will take place on August 26–30, 2024, and will be held online. Senior undergraduate students (starting from the third year), masters, and postgraduate students are welcome to participate.
Registration for the Summer School is required by 23 August.
