The collection of scientific essays, documents, bibliographic materials dedicated to the 170th anniversary of the birth of the artist and scientist «Edgar Kováts: scientific and creative achievements of the architect» begins a series of publications that reveal the historical aspect of scientific achievements of Lviv Polytechnic researchers.
Edgar Kováts (1849–1912) – architect, artist and art theorist. In 1906–1907 he was Rector of Lviv Polytechnic after Julian Zachariewicz. He is the author of his own concept of a new Galician style in architecture and applied art entitled Zakopane Style.
Academic staff of the Department of Design and Architecture Fundamentals, Institute of Architecture, Lviv Polytechnic National University, namely Svitlana Linda, Tetiana Klymeniuk (scientific editor), Iryna Dyda, Vasyl Kuzmych, Khrystyna Boiko, Ihor Shcherbakov, Olena Oleshko and Yuliana Petrovska prepared and edited the bibliography. The book was compiled by Olena Nikoliuk and Renata Samotyi.
The collection contains biographical information and achievements of the researcher, the main dates of his life and activity. Edgar Kováts research works are listed in chronological order, as well as his projects and stages of creative activity. The book describes some of Edgar Kováts structures and products; the literature on the activity of the researcher (bibliographic descriptions are given in chronological order, and within the year – alphabetically) is also included.
The collection is compiled on the basis of materials contained in the holdings of the Scientific and Technical Library of Lviv Polytechnic, materials from the Department of Design and Architecture Fundamentals, as well as open access resources.
