Arkadiusz Wójs, Rector of Wrocław University of Science and Technology, and Tadeusz Więckowski, former Rector of Wrocław University, professor at the Department of Telecommunications and ICT, who is also Doctor Honoris Causa of Lviv Polytechnic, arrived at our University, where they met with Rector Yurii Bobalo, Vice-Rectors Nataliya Chukhray and Oleh Matviikiv, Bohdan Cherkes, Director of the Institute of Architecture and Design (IARD), and Mykhailo Lobur, Head of the Department of Computer-Aided Design, the ICSIT. They honoured the Polish professors shot dead in 1941 on the Vuletski Hills and the Ukrainian Heroes at the Lychakiv Cemetery.
During the meeting at Lviv Polytechnic, they analysed the cooperation between the two universities, outlined plans for the future and took a tour of the university. It should be noted that both universities have been fruitfully cooperating for a long time. Wroclaw University of Science and Technology is one of our strategic partners. Three of its professors were once awarded the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa of Lviv Polytechnic, and our Rector Yurii Bobalo holds the same title at their university.
– I would like to remind you that Wroclaw University of Science and Technology was founded in 1945 by scientists from Lviv Polytechnic, who did not accept the arrival of Soviet power in Lviv and emigrated to Poland, says Nataliya Chukhray, Vice-Rector for Education and International Relations of our University. Today, we are united by the active work under the project of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange NAWA, especially its Solidarity with Ukraine programme and the Green Transformation at Ukrainian Universities, where Lviv Polytechnic is among seven Ukrainian higher education institutions.
