The Higher Education of Ukraine project on providing energy-efficient and comfortable learning conditions in universities together with the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) is underway.
The project envisages renovation of educational, research and support facilities in the universities of Ukraine (more than 200 buildings of 21 universities, which are part of the I and II phases of the project) and improvement of:
- energy efficiency of buildings and reduction of operating costs of state institutions of higher education;
- quality of teaching, learning, academic, research and residential buildings.
Active preparation for the financing of the universities of the second stage of the Project has started. These are higher education institutions that will receive funding from NEFCO.
At the end of 2020 the participants of the first phase of the project signed 7 agreements on the transfer of loan funds. Based on the results of conducted in accordance with international tender procedures, National Pedagogical Drahomanov University signed contracts with contractors for the overhaul of buildings totaling more than 180 million hryvnias. The other 6 universities at this phase, including Lviv Polytechnic National University, are in the process of concluding design and maintenance contracts with the company (winner of the tender procedures) for a total of more than 5.5 million euros. They will be financed by the EIB.
