On the square near the Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytskyi monument you could see a few young people who were observing the flight of an unmanned aerial vehicle.
They turned out to be German students of the second – fourth year of study at the High School in Neubrandenburg. Together with geodetic students from Polytechnic, they were doing their educational practice. After fieldwork, in a laboratory German students worked on a monument, shot by the vehicle.
– We have been cooperating with our German colleagues in various fields of education and science for 12 years, – said Ihor Trevoho, deputy director of the IGD. – We have joint publications, experiments, reports at international conferences. Every year our students go to Germany to study, to do internship or to have scientific and educational practice. They work there with the latest geodetic equipment and technologies, attend geodetic research institutions and participate in various measurement processes. Similarly, German students come to us to have scientific and educational practice.
– For the first time we have practice in Lviv Polytechnic, – said Arturas Osnak, a German student. – In Lviv we did what we had not done at our university. In particular, we carried out high-precision geometric leveling and satellite measurements, worked with the comparator, visited a seismic station in Lviv, which monitors earthquakes on the planet, and others. We really liked the university, both the interior and exterior. We are grateful to lecturers who helped us work with new devices for us. In the evenings, together with the students of the Institute of Geodesy, we got acquainted with the city. We really liked it, especially the ancient architecture of Lviv. I would like to once again come to Lviv to practice.
By the way, in September, five masters of the Institute of Geodesy will study in Germany according to the double diploma program. There, at the geodesic enterprises and scientific institutions, they will write their master’s theses. Polytechnicians hope that not only our, but German students as well will come to us to study according to the double diploma program. In addition, there are negotiations about postgraduate studies for Germans in Lviv Polytechnic.
