The head of the PSIR department won the international competition for the Ivan Vyhovsky Award

Halyna Lutsyshyn, Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences, Lviv Polytechnic National University, became the winner of the International Competition for the Ivan Vyhovsky award of the Center for East European Studies, the University of Warsaw, under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland for the 2022–2023 academic year.

The Ivan Vyhovsky Award is intended to mark the merits of Ukrainian citizens in the development of science, culture and public life, in the formation and development of civil society in Ukraine and in the construction of a democratic pro-European Ukraine. An important condition for participation is the applicant’s direct contribution to the development of Ukrainian-Polish cooperation in the field of civil society.

Halyna Lutsyshyn will conduct research at two universities in Poland – the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. The curator of the internship is Teresa Astramowicz-Leyk, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn.

It is important that several academics at the Department of Political Science and International Relations have already received the Ivan Vyhovsky Award. In particular, they are Professor Yaryna Turchyn, Assistant Professors Lesia Dorosh and Olha Ivasechko, and assistant Marian Lopata.

The Ivan Vyhovsky Award was founded in 2014 by the Center for East European Studies, the University of Warsaw, and the influential public foundation «Collegium of Eastern Europe», it is also supported and financed by 21 Polish universities. The award honours the achievements of Ukrainian citizens in the development of science, culture and public life, the study of historical, modern and the formation of future relations of Ukraine, Poland and Europe. This award enables the scientist to carry out research, develop scientific cooperation, and get acquainted with the experience of leading universities in Poland.
