On June 1, 2020, on the International Children’s Day, the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, Lviv Polytechnic National University, continued a series of online events initiated by the International Educational Coordinating Council (IECC) of the Ukrainian World Congress of (UWC), responding to new challenges.
At the invitation of their long-term partner IECC, the Institute staff held a webinar «Textbook on Ukrainian as a foreign language (B2-C1) «Key to Ukraine: cities and people» for teachers of Ukrainian Saturday and Sunday Schools abroad and colleagues from Ukraine on the GoToMeeting platform. 32 educators from different countries and continents took part in the webinar.
The webinar was conducted by IECDR employees – Oksana Horda, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Senior Research Fellow, and Oksana Trumko, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Research Fellow. IECDR employees presented their new textbook, which will help students of Ukrainian Saturday and Sunday Schools not only to study the Ukrainian language in an interesting way, but also to learn about Ukraine.
In their presentation, the speakers told about the content and structure of the textbook «The Key to Ukraine: Cities and People» (B2-C1), prepared by the authors’ team of the Institute: Iryna Kliuchkovska, Oksana Horda, Oksana Trumko, Nataliia Martynyshyn, Olha Rusnak and Galyna Temnyk, covering topics of texts and types of tasks, and described how to work with these materials and adapt them for a certain audience, etc.
Everyone who participated in the webinar had the opportunity to fulfill the proposed tasks and ask questions to the presenters.
The participants of the event expressed their gratitude and gave advice to the authors of the textbook and provided positive feedback about the work of IECDR in the field of education.
At the end of the webinar, IECDR Director Iryna Kliuchkovska thanked all participants for their constant attention to the projects that the Institute staff is working on, and for the valuable advice of our partners who help create good teaching materials.
The event became the third of the planned webinars in cooperation with IECC. We express our gratitude to Oksana Levytska, Chairman of IECC, for the initiative, which gives Ukrainian educators the opportunity to present interesting and innovative projects for their colleagues, as well as share experiences and improve professionally.
