For two weeks in Lviv, restorers from three countries exchange experience in the research and rescue of wooden churches. Participants and lecturers of the workshop are experts from Ukraine, the USA and Croatia.
The training lasts from June 24 to July 6, 2019, at the Department of Architecture and Restoration of Lviv Polytechnic National University. Participants attend lectures, seminars, excursions and professional discussions. Within the framework of this training workshop there will also be conducted research works on two objects: an iconostasis at the Church of St. Clement the Pope in Lviv and the wooden church in Kuhaiv village.
According to Mykola Bevza, the head of the Department of Architecture and Restoration of Lviv Polytechnic National University, this workshop is the first step towards further cooperation. The organizers hope that they will be able to organize such summer courses every year or every two years and not only for Ukrainian students, but also for foreigners who have other internship programs and can share other skills and knowledge. The materials from this year lectures will be available in print and video format.
