On April 21, 2022, Lviv Polytechnic National University held the IX All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference «Actual Problems of International Relations and Foreign Policy». It was organized by the Department of Political Science and International Relations, the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences together with the Research and Analytical Center for Political Studies «Vector».
The conference participants discussed key issues of modern international relations. In particular, the main focus was on the Russian-Ukrainian war, economic and political sanctions against Russia, Russia's war crimes in Ukraine, and support for Ukrainian refugees around the world.
Oksana Dashchakivska, Head of the Western Ukrainian Representation of the International Renaissance Foundation, spoke about the humanitarian activities of international organizations in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war. She stressed the importance of choosing effective instruments for providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine, as international organizations are significantly limited in their actions during the active phase of the war. Approaches to the humanitarian work of international organizations have also changed: in particular, the organizations actively cooperate with local communities, volunteer centers and public organizations in general. Oksana Dashchakivska also noted that the basic humanitarian needs of the population should be constantly monitored and provided in a timely manner.
Of great interest was the report on Ukraine's cooperation with international organizations in improving gender policy in the Armed Forces of Ukraine by Kateryna Iliukhina, Master of History at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and the report on information component of the Russian-Ukrainian war by Roman Pasichnyi, Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations, Lviv Polytechnic National University.
Interesting and informative materials and reports of the conference participants encouraged lively scientific discussion and deepening the research in the field of international relations.
