The agreements provides for joint scientific, technical, informational, analytical and educational activities on nuclear and radiation safety: participation in sectoral and international scientific and educational programs and projects to ensure nuclear and radiation safety, application of modern best practices in the educational process, improving teaching methods and their efficiency, etc.
As the nuclear industry is developing in Ukraine, the need for qualified personnel in this area is growing, and therefore, it is important to involve young people in mastering technical specialties. Cooperation between partner institutions helps students understand the need for their profession and guarantees comprehensive training and further employment.
The agreement was signed by Ihor Shevchenko, Director of the Center, and Oleh Matviikiv, First Vice-Rector at Lviv Polytechnic.
It should be noted that the Institute of Energy and Control Systems, namely the Department of Heat Engineering and Thermal and Nuclear Power Plants, is already cooperating with the State enterprise «State scientific and technical center for nuclear and radiation safety». Due to this cooperation, this year engineering students took part in the Summer School of the Center, which included an internship at the Argonne National Laboratory (USA).
From now on, on the basis of the signed agreement, two more Institutes will join the cooperation – the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies and the Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Systems. At the working meeting that took place after the signing of the document, representatives of the partner Lviv Polytechnic Institutes and the State enterprise «State scientific and technical center for nuclear and radiation safety» told about their activities and discussed joint plans for the near future.
