The Spanish National Research Council has published another edition of the international Webometrics Ranking of World’s Universities July 2023 (Edition 2023.2.0).
In general, the Webometrics Ranking is updated every six months and examines the performance of more than 31,000 universities in the world. There are 300 institutions of higher education from Ukraine in the ranking.
Universities are evaluated according to three indicators:
- Visibility/Impact – the number of external sources that contain backlinks to the institution’s web pages – calculated according to Ahrefs and Majestic tools – 50%;
- Transparency/Openness – the number of citations by top authors of the institution according to Google Scholar Citations – 10%;
- Excellence – the number of articles by the institution researchers that are among the 10% most cited in 27 disciplines according to Scimago calculations – 40% (data are taken for a five-year period, 2018–2022).
Lviv Polytechnic National University ranks tenth in the ranking, and our university is the second in Ukraine according to the Excellence indicator.
