The solemn meeting of the Association members, which recently has been held in the Assembly Hall of the main building of University, was dedicated to this jubilee. Established ten years ago, this voluntary and self-governing organization unites graduates, lecturers, friends and sympathizers of Lviv Polytechnic. Working on the basis of voluntariness, equality of its members, self-government, legality and publicity, it became one of the first similar organizations in Ukraine.
Welcoming the participants of the meeting, the rector of Lviv Polytechnic National University, Professor Yurii Bobalo, spoke about important stages of establishment and formation of the Association, emphasized the need for its active and effective participation in the life of University and expansion of its membership.
The rector told the audience about establishment of a strategic development plan for the future, preparation for an important stage of the life of University- the confirmation of its National title, the achievement and existing problems of the education institution, and appealed to the Graduates Association members to be involved in their solution.
Professor Volodymyr Starchevskyi, Deputy Chairman of the Association Board, Head of the Department of General Chemistry, expressed his gratitude to the rector of Lviv Polytechnic for a substantive and realistic analysis. He emphasized that it is important to strongly intensify the participation of the Association members in the University life. After all, such social organizations in the West substantially support their education institutions, allowing them to successfully work and develop their scientific and educational activities.
Oleksandr Berezko, Member of the Association Board, Chairman of the Young Scientists Council of University, presented the new format of the Association work – the Club of Lviv Polytechnic University Graduates. It is based on three important elements: a social network that will allow establishing close communication between the Association members, loyalty program and offline communication. The rector Yurii Bobalo was awarded club card No.1.
Subsequently, there was a panel discussion how to revitalize and improve the Association work, which was attended by representatives of various generations of Lviv Polytechnic graduates.
