Open Access Week is a global annual event dedicated to open access and related topics, which this year takes place from October 19 to 25. During the Week, many scientific and educational institutions and organizations will traditionally host conferences, seminars and other events aimed at promoting openness in scientific communication, dissemination of relevant best practices, discussion of topical issues etc.
A special theme of Open Access Week 2020 will be «Open with Purpose: Taking Action to Build Structural Equity and Inclusion». More and more people around the world understand that without equality, accessibility and inclusion, there can be no real openness. As a result, more and more stakeholders are focusing on these issues and paying more and more attention to ensuring equal opportunities.
Leading international organizations such as OpenAIRE (European Open Science Infrastructure for open scholarly and scientific communication) and Eurodoc (European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers), which are known for their consistent advocacy of the principles of Open Science and Equality, are not left out. On October 22, 2020, at 17:00 Kyiv time, OpenAIRE and Eurodoc will hold a joint seminar Open Science Ambassadors: How can early career researchers boost Open Science? with Oleksandr Berezko, Member of the Eurodoc Board and Consultant of the Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Associate Professor at Lviv Polytechnic National University, and Sarah Pilia, Secretariat Coordinator and WG Equality Co-coordinator, Eurodoc. Speakers will present the results of the first year of the Open Science Ambassadors program, discuss the issues of equality in academic environment and the impact of COVID-19 on communication and work in science.
Access to the seminar is free subject to registration.
