Fabriano is not only a city and a municipality in the center of Italy, but for 10 years it has been a place that gathers the best watercolor artists of the world. In the Watercolor Festival in Fabriano Ukraine has been taking part for already four years, and the delegation of Ukrainian artists from the very beginning has been headed by Ihor Yurchenko, the DAF IARCH academic at Lviv Polytechnic.
This year festival program includes an exhibition, master classes, trips and meetings of representatives of 80 countries. Each official representative reported on the activities he has been conducting in his country. The problems and the development of the festival were discussed as well. Ihor Yurchenko told that in Ukraine he has held a number of exhibitions Ukrainian Palette of Fabriano which promoted the festival as well as conducted workshops for children that took place in Odesa, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and Tokmak.
Polytechnic representatives have been constantly taking part in the festival – Olha Cholombitko, Olha Lysenko, Inna Mosor and Viktor Khadzdynov, academics at DAF IARCH, presented their works either in the catalogue or at the exhibition. Ihor Yurchenko not only presented his own works, but also promoted Lviv Polytechnic conducting master classes in a branded T-shirt. He also put it on at other festivals in other countries – China and Albania.
This year, Olha Cholombitko’s work – The Motifs of the Alpine Mountains – entered the catalogue of the festival. In total, 15 works by Ukrainians were presented at the exhibition and 10 works – in the catalogue. Ihor Yurchenko presented the watercolor Italian patio (not the one in Lviv, but in the Adriatic), 56 by 38 cm. Without jury’s help, he also selected the best works for the festival – more than 60 artists submitted their pieces. The Ukrainian exposition represented different genres – architecture, portrait, still life and landscape – and impressed with its elegance and high professional level.
Selected festival works will be shown in different cities of Italy and other countries – as it is a traveling exhibition. Thus, those students and academics who paint with watercolors have a chance to be learnt about abroad. The participation in the International Watercolor Festival in Fabriano is free of charge. Paint and send your works to the Facebook page of 2019 Fabriano in watercolor Ukrainian artists.
