The third week of October 2018 was extremely busy of events and impressions for the German-Ukrainian Education Center of Lviv Polytechnic National University, as its staff hosted the German delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Erfurt.
On Monday, October 22, there was a ceremony for awarding the title of Honorary Professor of Lviv Polytechnic National University to Professor Gerald Grusser, Director General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Erfurt. The ceremony was held at the meeting of Academic Board, where the rector of University, Yurii Bobalo, presented the award. Professor Grusser delivered a thank-you speech and told about his special attitude to Ukraine and Lviv Polytechnic.
It is important to note that the duties of an Honorary Professor of Lviv Polytechnic University include lecturing at University once a year. On October 23, Professor Grusser made a presentation for the first time after being awarded. The lecture was on a dual education system in Germany and the experience of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Erfurt with the implementation of such an education system.
After the lecture Professor Grusser expressed his desire to visit an orphanage. The German delegation paid a visit to the Children’s House No.2 in Lviv. Gerald Grusser, his wife and other German guests spoke to the staff and children. At the end of the visit, Professor Grusser, his wife, and Mr. Thomas Fahlbusch donated to the Children’s House.
Also on October 22, the German delegation met with Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Oleh Syniutka. At the meeting, they discussed issues of the GUEC functioning, the development of professional technical education in Lviv region, as well as the organization of the Ukrainian-Thuringian Economic Forum, which will take place in May 2019 with the participation of Bodo Ramelow, Prime Minister of the Free State of Thuringia.
