On June 23, 2022, educators gathered in the Assembly Hall of Lviv Polytechnic National University to summarize the achievements of the Ukrainian Distance Learning School (UDLS) and outline its future prospects.
– I would like to express my gratitude to the Minister of Education and Science and his deputy for the Ukrainian Distance Learning School, to Lviv Polytechnic for the assistance they provided in organizing this project, to the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration and to each teacher who joined the UDLS, – said in his speech Oleh Paska, director of the Department of Education and Science, Lviv Regional Military Administration.
For 3 months of the project, the organizers and teachers of UDLS:
- completed the school year for 795 students;
- organized 133 training courses and ensured their quality, each course had an average of 69 modules;
- put 47,490 grades in electronic journals for 5–11 grades students;
- received 8,366 questions from interested listeners;
- collected in the archive more than 41 GB of downloaded data.
– We gave the opportunity to teach and gain knowledge in such a difficult time. We have done a lot of work in three months, and the results we are talking about today are just the tip of the iceberg. Underneath all this there is a colossal work, and without people it would not be done. All due to their dedication, ability to forget about themselves, to check the works at night, and to create incredible, stunning routes to make it interesting for children, – said Marharyta Noskova, director of the Center for Innovative Educational Technologies, Lviv Polytechnic.
75 teachers from Lviv, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Volyn, Kharkiv, and Kirovohrad oblasts, Departments of Territorial Communities, teachers, students of advanced training courses of the Center of Innovative Educational Technologies, graduates of Lviv Polytechnic National University, graduate students and teachers of higher education institutions joined teaching at the Ukrainian Distance Learning School on a volunteer basis.
– Now there is time when everyone shows their professionalism in the interests of the state. Impressions from working at the Ukrainian Distance Learning School are only positive. First, we could communicate with students who needed our work. Secondly, it was a good chance to develop our professionalism. As we see the positive results and the feedback from children and their parents, we will continue. Words of gratitude from our students are the highest praise for teachers. We are working for the result – we are working for the victory!, – Yuliia Shalovylo, a teacher of chemistry and biology at the Sudovovyshnianska school of the 1st-3rd grades, who worked with 9th grade students, shared her experience of teaching at the UDLS.
Let’s recall that the unique volunteer project – Ukrainian Distance Learning School – was launched by the Department of Education and Science, Lviv Regional Military Administration, together with the Center for Innovative Educational Technologies, Lviv Polytechnic National University, to provide access to quality education for children forced to leave their homes because of the war.
