At the invitation of Oksana Yurynets, the People's Deputy, a member of the Permanent Delegation of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Rasa Juknevičienė, Acting President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, paid a two-day working visit to Lviv.
Rasa Juknevičienė participated in the International Scientific Forum on Cross-border Cooperation at Lviv Polytechnic National University, met the rector of the education institution Yurii Bobalo, city and regional council, and visited Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Ground Forces Academy and International Peacekeeping and Security Centre.
– The process of Ukraine's accession to NATO will not be very short and very easy. The Ukrainian parliament has only recently declared at the legislative level the course of joining the Alliance. But this does not mean relaxing the reforms. You need them foremost, not NATO. Lithuania also went for that. From the time we announced our course, it passed 10 years before we entered NATO. But due to the reforms we have a completely different Lithuania, said Rasa Juknevičienė.
At the same time, Oksana Yurynets emphasized the priority of Ukraine's accession to NATO for Verkhovna Rada, showed gratitude to Rasa Juknevičienė for her first visit to Lviv, and expressed hope that next year the city will hold a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Inter-Parliamentary Council.
