Within the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of Architectural Environment Design of the Institute of Architecture at Lviv Polytechnic National University, there was announced an international student contest on the idea of humanization of the city center of Boryslav which founded more than 600 years ago.
The organizers of the contest hope that all progressive ideas of the students from Ukrainian, German, Polish and Canadian architecture schools will be implemented in this project.
Projects for Boryslav – a major center of petroleum industry in Western Ukraine – should offer an author’s view on the reorientation in spheres, which have mainly provided the extraction of natural resources and the activity of technological productions, to the development of recreation, healthcare improvement and tourism.
Boryslav development and reorientation scenarios must take into account natural and man-made landscapes, and offer means of harmonizing and humanizing the existing environment of the city center.
The contest will be held until November 1, 2018.
