The Center for Innovative Educational Technologies of the University continues to coordinate the European project for teachers SELFIE

About a thousand pedagogical workers from 34 primary and secondary education institutions of Lviv region took part in the next stage of the SELFIE educational project, namely in a large-scale national study on the assessment of digital competencies of teachers of secondary education institutions using the SELFIE for Teachers tool.

The stage of self-reflection of participants took place during December 2025. In total, more than 6.5 thousand teachers from 650 secondary education institutions from all regions of Ukraine, except for the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea, participated in this stage of the study. The selection of educational institutions that participated in the study was carried out randomly according to a quantitative quota for each region. Lviv region had the largest number of participants among all regions of Ukraine – 34 secondary education institutions.

The permanent coordinator of the SELFIE project in Lviv region for the past three years has been Marharyta Noskova, Director of the Center for Innovative Technologies, Lviv Polytechnic National University.

SELFIE for Teachers is a free, easy-to-use, multilingual online tool developed by the European Commission to support teachers’ self-reflection and self-assessment of digital competences. It is based on the EU Digital Competence Framework for Educators. The tool aims to assess the level of teachers’ digital competence, identify professional development needs, and support the development of evidence-based educational policy in Ukraine.

The stages of the study include:

  • conducting a study through self-reflection and self-assessment using the SELFIE for Teachers tool (November-December 2025);
  • processing and analysis of aggregated data, reporting on the results of the study (January 2026);
  • disseminating the tool and the possibility for all teaching staff of the general secondary education system in Ukraine to use it (February–April 2026).

The SELFIE for Teachers study is being conducted within the framework of the regional initiative on digital education in Ukraine by the European Training Foundation (ETF) in partnership with the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC) of the European Commission, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with the information support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

The SELFIE for Teachers study tool helps pedagogical workers assess the level of their own digital competencies, identify areas for development and use the results in professional activities and professional development.
