On May 4, 2020, the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations (IECDR), Lviv Polytechnic National University, at the invitation of its longtime partner, the International Educational Coordinating Council (IECC) of the World Congress of Ukrainians (UWC), held the second of a series of planned by IECDR webinars «Educational project «Stories from Lesia’s life» for educators of Ukrainian studies at Saturday and Sunday schools abroad and colleagues from Ukraine on GoToMeeting platform.
IECDR webinar has continued a series of online events, launched by IECC in response to new challenges. We express our gratitude to Oksana Levytska, Chairman of IECC, for the initiative which gives Ukrainian educators the opportunity to present interesting and innovative projects for their colleagues, as well as share experiences and improve professionally.
In the new conditions, when distance methods of organizing the educational process are especially relevant, IECDR as an institution that cooperates with Ukrainians from abroad, in particular in the field of education, supporting Ukrainian schools in the world, has developed new educational materials. As next year we celebrate the 150th anniversary of Lesia Ukrainka’s birth, familiarizing students with the life and literary activity of this outstanding Ukrainian woman is very important.
40 educators from different countries and continents, including Australia, Argentina, Canada, Germany, France, Russia, Poland, Ukraine and others took part in the webinar.
At the beginning of the event, Iryna Kliuchkovska, Director of IECDR, introduced the presenters and told about new projects the staff of the Institute is working on, including «Ukrainian Educational Universe Portal» and project «Stories from Lesia’s life».
The webinar was conducted by IECDR employees – CSc. (Philology), Senior Research Fellow Oksana Horda and CSc. (Philology), Research Fellow Oksana Trumko. The speakers presented the project «Stories from Lesia’s life». From the presentation participants learned about:
- for whom these educational materials are created and recommended and for what types of educational process they can be used;
- the structure of the course which aims to develop three types of speech activity: listening, reading and speaking;
- topics of texts and types of tasks developed by IECDR employees;
- how to work with these materials and adapt them for your audience, etc.
Everyone who participated in the webinar had the opportunity to fulfill the proposed tasks and ask questions to the presenters.
At the end of the event, participants expressed their gratitude and advice to the authors of the project and gave positive feedback on the work of IECDR in the field of education.
