The website of the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations has published the results of the study «Youth Public Activism of Ukrainian Migrants in EU Countries» conducted by the IECDR team.
The survey was conducted among Ukrainian youth who became activists in Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland and the Czech Republic. The field stage was implemented in 2019.
Preliminary results of the study were presented at the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Public activism of Ukrainian migrants in Europe: united by new challenges», which took place on October 24, 2019, at Lviv Polytechnic.
The publications deal with the peculiarities and difficulties of integration of Ukrainian migrants into a new society, highlighting the factors of preserving national identity and assimilation. A typical portrait of a Ukrainian public activist is described, and the motives of involvement in public activism among Ukrainian youth abroad are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the main areas of activity of public organizations and initiative groups of Ukrainian migrants abroad, their quantitative and qualitative composition, structure, dynamics of the development, as well as the establishment of their cooperation with other legal entities. Strategies of activists’ life and reflections of the role of migration are presented.
The study materials can be useful for researchers, postgraduate students, state and regional authorities, academic staff and students of various specialities who study or are interested in international migration as well as for representatives of the public sector in Ukraine and the world.
