On March 24, 2022, Lviv Polytechnic National University hosted a conference on «Ukraine in the coordinates of the Eastern Partnership: the search for geopolitical priorities through the prism of national security». The event was held in the framework of the Erasmus+ project of Jean Monnet’s module «EU Eastern Partnership Initiative: Opportunities for Ukraine» (EaP Initiative).
The conference began with a panel discussion, where well-known scholars, analysts and political practitioners presented their reports, in particular: Mark Voyger (USA), Dainius Zalimas (Lithuania), Oksana Yurynets and Mykola Buchyn. A total of 41 reports were delivered on a variety of topics, mostly related to:
- issues of the security component of the Eastern Partnership;
- legal mechanisms for ensuring regional security;
- Russian-Ukrainian war and peculiarities of wartime;
- the economic dimension of the Eastern Partnership;
- prospects for the development of the Associated Trio;
- Euroscepticism and the influence of nationalism on the enlargement process of the European Union;
- prospects of Ukraine gaining the status of a candidate for EU membership, etc.
Reports were made by 50 people (students and teachers), and a total of 93 participants joined the conference. Various universities of Ukraine were represented:
- Lviv Polytechnic National University;
- Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv;
- Ivan Franko National University of Lviv;
- Academy of Financial Management;
- National Aviation University;
- National University «Ostroh Academy»;
- Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University;
- Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University;
- University of Educational Management.
A model of the Eastern Partnership Youth Summit was also held. There was held a discussion on the «Security Dimension of the Eastern Partnership».
The project team is sincerely grateful to all conference participants, distinguished speakers, as well as students for active work, quality performances and innovative approaches to improving EU Eastern policy, implementation of the Eastern Partnership, strengthening the security component of the initiative and progress of European integration of Ukraine.
We sincerely hope that soon after our Victory we will meet in Lviv in an offline discussion, which will address no less interesting topics in the context of the development of the European Community and cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union.
