During the spring semester of the 2023/24 academic year, Lviv Polytechnic National University hosted several working visits by Associate Professor Fabio Converti from the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli in Naples, Italy. During these visits, he discussed the terms of cooperation on the chosen research topic with the faculty of the Department of Management of Organizations. As part of the Jean Monnet project, Associate Professor Converti conducted lectures for students and faculty of the Department.
Fabio Converti also took an active part in the Week of Italian culture held at Lviv Polytechnic. During this event, guests had the opportunity to taste food from Naples as part of a Mediterranean diet.
Cooperation with Associate Professor Converti was not limited to lectures and cultural events. The result of the scientific cooperation was a joint monograph entitled «From Cultural to Creative Tourism: the Case of the City of Lviv (as a UNESCO Member)» («Dal turismo culturale al turismo creativo: Il caso della città Unesco di Leopoli»), which was published in Italy. The authors of the monograph are:
– Fabio Converti, Associate Professor at the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli (Naples, Italy);
– Prof. Nataliya Chukhray, Vice-Rector for Education and International Relations;
– Representatives of the Department of Management of Organizations: Doctor of Economics, Professor Oleh Karyi, Candidate of Economics, Associate Professor Ihor Kulyniak, and postgraduate student Kateryna Yarmola;
– Orest Vasylko, Head of the Leonardo da Vinci Center for Italian-Ukrainian Cooperation.
The monograph is dedicated to the study of the tourism potential of Lviv as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Associate Professor Fabio Converti spoke about his vision of developing the tourism potential of our city based on his own experience in developing a development strategy for Naples.
Representatives of the Department of Management of Organizations highlighted the following issues:
- 1. The role of historical and cultural heritage in the development of the region’s tourism potential: a literature review.
- 2. The current state of use of the historical and cultural heritage of Lviv.
- 3. Directions of popularisation of the historical and cultural heritage of Lviv region under martial law.
Lviv Polytechnic has built strong business relationships with representatives of the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli, which opens up prospects for further joint scientific cooperation.
