Lviv Polytechnic held a landmark event – the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Lviv Medical Business Cluster, the university and local authorities. The event brought together scientists, businessmen and local authorities to join forces to develop Lviv region as a medical hub in Eastern Europe.
The main purpose of the meeting was to establish cooperation and discuss ideas for the creation and commercialization of innovative medical and technological developments. The signed memorandum opens up opportunities for scientists, business and authorities to work together in the preparation and implementation of new projects, as well as to develop the economic potential of the region.
The members of the Lviv Medical Business Cluster, healthcare business owners in Lviv region, local authorities, scientists and innovators, as well as interested parties who want to implement a business in the field of medical technologies attended the event.
The meeting was divided into three parts. The first part was an overview and analysis of developments to be wider implemented. In this part, Lviv Polytechnicians presented their scientific developments in the field of medtech and pharmacy. Particular attention was paid to electronic sensors and embedded systems developed by students, postgraduates and researchers of Lviv Polytechnic, as well as medtech solutions developed by the faculty of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology. At the second part of the event there was presented the capabilities of the Lviv Medical Business Cluster and discussed the importance of clustering for the development of the region. At the third part of the event, the participants learnt about the advantages of the region in the field of medical business in the context of developing the economic potential of Lviv region.
– Lviv Polytechnic National University has strong developments in the field of medical technology, is open to cooperation with business and is ready to jointly develop the areas of medtech, biotechnology and pharmacy, said Ivan Demydov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Vice-Rector for Research at Lviv Polytechnic National University.
The event culminated in the solemn signing of the memorandum, after which a joint photo was taken. The event concluded with a visit to the pilot line for the production of hydrogel materials for medical purposes at Lviv Polytechnic National University, where the participants had the opportunity to learn about the latest developments of the university.
The memorandum opens up new prospects for the development of medical technologies in the region, promoting the creation of innovative products and attracting investment. Lviv Polytechnic, together with businesses and authorities, will work to make Lviv region a leading medical hub in Eastern Europe, known for its innovations and high quality medical services.
Roman Nebesnyi, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Head of Lviv Polytechnic R&D Department, noted that the university has formed an analytical base of state-of-the-art equipment for research in biotechnology, pharmacy and medicinal chemistry and is expanding it. A separate priority is the formation of an innovative ecosystem, in particular the creation of deep tech prototyping laboratories in these areas, with the aim of practical implementation of research results and development of innovative products. The use of analytical equipment and prototyping laboratories of the university and joint work on the research needs of the medical business can be among the first steps of practical cooperation.
Working together to achieve these ambitious goals will help the region to strengthen its economic potential and take a leading position in the international medical technology arena.
