This year, the Foundation for the second time carried out the process of selecting and nominating women scientists of Ukraine for inclusion in the international database AcademiaNet in 2024 in order to support Ukrainian scientists, as well as to implement the mission and tasks of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, which include, in particular, the international exchange of information and scientists, the promotion of scientific and technical activities, the development of research infrastructure in Ukraine and its integration into the world research infrastructure, etc.
The AcademiaNet platform was initiated in 2010 by the Robert Bosch Stiftung in cooperation with scientific organisations, universities and research institutions. It aims to promote equal opportunities for women in science, in particular by increasing their presence in leadership positions, involvement in expert committees and providing opportunities for scientific cooperation at the international level. Candidates for inclusion in the database are recommended by partner organisations – scientific institutions, foundations, etc. which ensures high standards of selection.
Nominees must meet AcademiaNet’s selection criteria, which include, among others:
- outstanding scientific achievements;
- independent leadership;
- achievements in scientific and technical activities.
From 17 June to 1 August 2024, the National Research Foundation of Ukraine received 13 applications. Of these, the Scientific Council approved 12 candidates, including Solomiia Fedushko, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor at the Department of Social Communication and Information Activities, the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences, Lviv Polytechnic National University.
The nomination to AcademiaNet is an important step in recognising the scientific achievements of Ukrainian women researchers and their integration into the international research community. Together with AcademiaNet, the National Research Foundation of Ukraine opens up new horizons for Ukrainian women scientists in the international arena.
