The presentation of «Petro Andrusiv (1906–1981). Artistic heritage, publications, archival and reference materials» took place in the Zachariewicz Hall of the main building of Lviv Polytechnic. Authors and compilers Roman Yatsiv and Andrii Yatsiv, scientific editor Stepan Pavliuk, Roman Kushnir, current chairman of the Shevchenko Scientific Society, Petro Hrynchyshyn, representative of the Pitsyur Family Foundation, and Oksana Levytska, literary editor of the publication, took part in the event on October 6. The event was moderated by Iryna Kliuchkovska, Director of the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations.
The co-compiler of the book, Ukrainian artist and art critic Roman Yatsiv made a small excursion into the history of the creation of this edition. He told about the long correspondence with the late wife of Petro Andrusiv, Natalia, who shared the materials for the book; about a trip to the artist’s native village and work with found artifacts. Roman Yatsiv also noted Andrusiv’s high patriotism and care, his love for Ukrainian history and experience of creating many associations and initiatives abroad. «Petro Andrusiv was a multifaceted personality. Not exclusively an artist, not purely a historian or theoretician of art, he was a high calling citizen. We can say that he was a nationalist, despite the fact that he had extremely interesting relationships with his Polish professor colleagues. He felt his mission was to coordinate our Ukrainianness around fundamental issues of Ukrainian national culture», noted the editor.
