On September 9, 2022, Mykhailo Honchar, a well-known Ukrainian expert in the field of international energy and security relations, President of the Center for Global Studies «Strategy XXI», delivered a public lecture on the current topic «Energy policy of the EU and Ukraine in conditions of Russian aggression». At the lecture, the speaker focused the main attention on the connection between oil and gas revenues of Russia and the periodic exacerbation of its aggression against neighboring states, as well as on the main changes in the energy policy of the EU and Ukraine, the peculiarities of cooperation in the energy sphere as an important component of the European integration process of Ukraine.
About a hundred participants, including students of various majors, postgraduate students, teaching staff of Lviv Polytechnic National University and other interested persons, attended the public lecture. Attendees had the opportunity to get answers to their questions. In particular, they were interested in what European energy will be like in the future, what mistakes the EU made that led it to fall into the Russian energy trap, whether Russia will be able to quickly reorient to other markets for energy resources if the European market is closed for it, etc.
The event was held within the framework of the project «European studies for students of technical specialties at Lviv Polytechnic National University (EUSTS) with the support of the EU Erasmus+ program directed by Jean Monnet. The project team continues to work on the preparation of other interesting events on current topics of international politics and the European Union, and invites everyone to join them.
