On November 20, 2024, a public lecture by Vladyslav Ramazanov , PhD in Economics, Head of the Expert Group on Security of Supply and Development of a Competitive Natural Gas Market of the Directorate of Oil and Gas Complex and Development of Oil, Natural Gas and Petroleum Products Markets of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, was held online for students of Lviv Polytechnic on the topic: “Integration of Ukraine's Energy Sector into the EU: Challenges and Prospects”.
In his speech, the speaker focused on the issue of integration of Ukraine's energy sector into the EU, which is extremely relevant in today's environment. Vladyslav Ramazanov outlined the following aspects of energy security: energy independence, diversification of energy supplies, development of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The expert also emphasized the fact that the EU aims to ensure a stable, sustainable and resilient supply of energy resources through the development of an integrated single energy market and cooperation with other countries. This includes developing renewable energy, reducing dependence on hydrocarbons and improving energy efficiency.
The lecturer paid special attention to highlighting the potential of Ukraine to develop its energy sector, in particular in the field of renewable energy, which can help reduce dependence on imports and ensure sustainable and resilient energy supply.
In addition, Vladyslav Ramazanov focused on the development of energy efficiency and modernization of the energy sector.
The expert presented a vision (foresight) of the future of the Ukrainian energy sector, emphasizing that Ukraine will become an important partner of the EU in the energy sector in the future, ensuring stable and reliable energy supplies. Cooperation may include the exchange of technologies, experience and best practices in the field of energy efficiency, development of renewable energy sources and modernization of energy infrastructure.
The announced lecture aroused considerable interest, as 62 participants joined the event, including international students of Lviv Polytechnic National University, teachers, and members of the EUSTS project team.
Most of all, students were interested in the issues of Ukraine's achievements on the way to integration into the EU's single energy market, as well as the main obstacles on this path.
The event was held within the framework of the project “European Studies for Students of Technical Specialties at Lviv Polytechnic National University (EUSTS)”, which is implemented with the support of the EU Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Program (activity – a series of public lectures). The project team sincerely thanks all the participants of the event and continues to work on preparing other equally interesting activities on topical issues of Ukraine's European integration and cooperation with the European Union.
