As part of the career guidance activities and cooperation with specialized universities of the country, specialists of the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) held a meeting with students and teaching staff of Lviv Polytechnic National University.
During the meeting, the nuclear engineers presented the activities of the power-generating enterprise to the 2nd – 4th year students majoring in Atomic Energy, Thermal Energy, Electric Power, Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics, Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies. Olesia Sydorchyk and Oleksandr Fedinchyk, representatives of the Personnel Department, Thermal Automation and Measurement Facility, told the youth about the advantages of working at the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant.
Students learned about the possibility of an internship at the plant and the conclusion of tripartite agreements «Institute of Higher Education – RNPP – Student». Today, two students of Lviv Polytechnic are studying under such contracts.
Among the participants of the meeting there was a graduate of the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant School, who noted that the project influenced his professional choice, so he is currently majoring in the Nuclear Energy. Students learned about specialties in-demand at the moment and in the future. In particular, there is a need of specialties in the areas of Atomic energy, Heat power, Power stations, and Automated management of technological processes. The representatives of the RNPP also shared the secrets for passing job interviews.
In addition, the RNPP specialists met with the Heads of the Department of Electric Power Engineering and Control Systems and Department of Heat Engineering and Thermal and Nuclear Power Plants. They got acquainted with graduates’ theses, and also visited laboratories where practical classes are held.
«Lviv Polytechnic is popular among young people who choose technical majors for their future profession. This year, ten people from the satellite city of the RNPP entered this university for specialized majors. Today, graduates are successfully working in the operating and repair departments of the plant, said Olesya Sydorchyk. – We aim to advise young people on all issues related to our plant. Students actively participate in the discussions and are interested in a career at the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP)».
For many years, Lviv Polytechnic National University has been one of the most important institutions for training qualified specialists for the atomic energy industry of Ukraine. Currently, 243 graduates of the University work at the Nuclear Power Plant.
