On October 14, on the Defender of Ukraine Day, which coincides with the Feast of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Day of the Ukrainian Cossacks and the Day of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, the students of the Institute of Power Engineering and Control Systems organized a charity mini-football tournament among the students of the Institute, as well as fundraising for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The organizers of the event transferred 80 percent of the collected funds to the Return Alive Foundation.
– We thought how we can now gather and interest students to support the defenders of Ukraine, because we have been studying online for a long time. In the process of preparing for this event, the administration of the Institute, in particular the director Andrii Lozynskyi, supported us in every way. Due to the activity of our team and the concern of the leadership of the Institute, with joint efforts we managed to gather the teams and unite the participants. It is good for health and, what is very important, for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said Anastasiia Popova, IPEC.
The participants of the sports competition got inspired by volunteer Bohdan Zdanevych, as well as football player of FC Lviv Artur Remeniak, who visited the tournament. The guests gave the students a T-shirt with the signatures of FC Lviv players, which will be raffled off on social networks for donations to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ihor Holovach, a representative of the IPEC leadership, was present at the event and supported the students. It is worth noting that IPEC started the tradition of joint opening of such events and awarding winners in 2015.
